Working with Cova
Everything you need to know about working, living and getting paid through Cova. Is your question not here? Just call or message us.
When and how do I get my pay?
Your pay is transferred to your bank account every four weeks on a Friday, in euros. By law, we cannot pay in cash. You get your first pay after a maximum of four weeks, so bring enough money for the first weeks. A transfer within the Netherlands usually takes one working day, and to another country a maximum of four working days. Cova does not give advance payments.
Where can I see my payslips?
Your payslips and your annual statement are in our online portal. You log in with your username and password. Forgot your password? Email [email protected] or come to the office.
Can Cova arrange housing?
Yes. Our homes are SNF-certified and fully furnished, with a shared living room, kitchen, bathroom, TV and internet. You have your own bed in a room for one or two people. The rent is deducted from your pay every week. You can use the home from the arrival date that Cova gives you. We cannot always guarantee rooms for couples or friends.
How do I get to work?
If you have no transport of your own, Cova gives you a bike for short distances, or you ride along in a car for longer distances. The cars have GPS and may only be used for the agreed route. Traffic fines are paid by the driver. You arrange the journey from your home country to the Netherlands yourself.
Do I need a BSN?
Yes, every employee needs a BSN (Dutch citizen service number). Cova makes an appointment for you at the municipality, and you collect the number there yourself.
Do I need health insurance?
If you work under Dutch law, Dutch health insurance is compulsory. Cova offers a basic insurance. If you already have insurance, please hand in a copy of your insurance card.
What clothing and shoes do I need?
Safety shoes are compulsory. If you do not have them, you can buy them from Cova. You arrange your own work clothes yourself, unless the client company provides them.
How many hours can I work?
The number of hours per week and the length of the work differ per client company, and in horticulture they also depend on the weather. So we cannot guarantee a number of hours, but we do our best to give you as much work as possible.
Can Cova help with an appointment with the doctor or dentist?
Yes. We make the appointment for you and can arrange transport and a Dutch-speaking companion. We discuss the costs with you beforehand.
What happens at the end of my contract?
Before your contract ends, Cova tells you whether it can be extended. Within four weeks after the end date, we settle everything that is still outstanding. Your annual statement is in the portal in January.
